ARTIST STATEMENT:

As a percussionist, I have an intimate relationship with rhythm and beat and what lies under the whole of a composition. It is the same with painting — rhythm translates into visual texture and form. Music informs painting, as painting informs music.

Nature has her own pulsing intricacies. I spent years taking close up photographs of nature, studying the shapes and textures, fascinated by the exquisite designs present in that world. Nature is where I feel most whole and at peace.

In painting, I narrate stories of internal and external relationships and connect them to a sense of well-being. There is the freedom to depict the illusive shadow side as a part of light, the life force in all of us. Individual paintings are like snapshots in a book, each revealing another missing piece of the story.

Disconnect and grief becomes connection and joy through painting. The cycle is complete.
I can turn the page.
